English Language Tax
The United Kingdom Home Office has proposed a new ‘English Language Tax’ aimed at tourists and foreign workers, with the intention of raising £4.5 billion during the scheme’s first 12 months.
A Home Office spokesman explained: ”An electronic chip will be issued at passport control and fitted to all incoming non-UK visitors. The chip will monitor any misuse of the English Language and a small tax will be levied on each mispronounced word.”
An exclusive interview about the new scheme with Jennifer Selhurst, Home Office Minister for Social Cohesion, can be viewed here:

Hi I am Trevor Hughes Director / Producer of English Language Tax. The film you have just seen came about by collaborating with other filmmakers and friends. I was at a network meeting and came up with the idea for this film as there were a number of media professionals from abroad there that evening. I was not having the easiest of times trying to speak French and then Italian, which got me thinking about how much money would be made if everyone was penalised for every language error that they made! So the story was born.
I decided to bring my idea to life in a film and asked my actor friends Heather Darcy and Peter Mckinney to be involved. I have worked with them both on other Frame On Frame projects, including short film Babbage, which has now been screened in LA, Cannes, New York and Belgrade, and was a finalist in Haydenfilms 2009 - please visit www.babbagethemovie.com.
I then wrote my script and screen writer Eamon Wyse (writer of Babbage) kindly edited it for me. Time was going by very quickly and before we knew it, the shoot was upon us!
We were lucky enough to work with cinematographer Ross Fall, who has been involved in a wide variety of feature films, and Chari Cillers our Sound recordist, who has
